CHAPTER TEN

The non-custodial parent's response to the state:
going "dark" and staying off of the grid

When all else fails and there is nothing more they can do, many non-custodial parents decide to just abandon society altogether and “go dark and/or stay off of the grid.” Those parents who do indeed “go dark,” usually come to that conclusion because they were unable to change their wounds into walking stick.

The term “going dark” means that you are not accessible to anyone, and nobody has a clue about your whereabouts.

And for those non-custodial parents who are not natural born killers, and those unable to express or convey their exasperation for the child support and child custody system (short of committing suicide), going dark and staying off of the grid is probably the only and last option for you.
