The inability of the state to forsee the reasons
for the rise in single-parent households
As a result of the popularity of casual sex, one-night stands, hook-ups, friends with benefits, teen motherhood, booty calls, and the intentional efforts by older women to become single parents, more children in the United States are being raised in single female-headed households than the state and the child support industrial complex could have ever imagined, or possibly managed. Moreover, the state's response to this increase in single female-headed households has unfortunately been both dismal and short-sighted.
